Above is a photo of the eclipse of April 8, 2024. It was a cool thing to see, and as we all know, it doesn't happen very often.
But it was more than that.
Throughout history eclipses were thought to be messages from the heavens. Political decisions were based on those in power interpreting them. We now know they are astronomical events that can be predicted with accuracy of fractions of seconds.
But it was more than that.
Over the past several years opinion, educated or not, has been given the same status as evidence, facts, and proof. That way lies madness.
Schools all along the path of the eclipse handed out glasses to their students that allowed them to watch the eclipse without harm. This kind of boost for scientific interest, is sorely needed. Too bad eclipses don't come more often.
